Level 3 Diploma in Senior Clinical Healthcare Support

DHCT is the provider of choice for GP practises in Cornwall supporting recruitment and training for Health care Assistants (HCA’s) and other health care organisations in the area. As a specialist provider of clinical training we are well placed to support health services in Cornwall.

Senior Clinical Healthcare Support Workers (HCA’s).

As an experienced clinical healthcare worker, you carry out a range of clinical and non-clinical healthcare or therapeutic tasks.  Within GP services HCA’s work autonomously running clinics to meet patient needs, but this qualification can also be used for someone specialising as an Adult Nursing Support Worker, Maternity Support Worker, Theatre Support Worker, Mental Health Support Worker, Children and Young People Support Worker or Allied Health Profession – Therapy Support Worker

You must have a level 2 in health and social care or equivalent

  • Level 3 BTEC Diploma Senior Healthcare Support Worker

    • Understand mental well-being and mental health promotion
    • Causes and spread of infection
    • Promote communication in care settings
    • Responsibilities of a care worker

    • Understand mental health problems
    • The principles of infection prevention and control
    • Cleaning, decontamination and waste management
    • Duty of care in care settings
    • Promote equality and inclusion in care settings
    • Promote person-centred approaches in care settings
    • Study Skills for Senior Healthcare Support Workers
    • Communicate with Individuals about Promoting Their Health and Wellbeing
    • Obtain a Client History
    • Undertake Tissue Viability Risk Assessments
    • Maintaining Quality Standards in the Health Sector
    • Examine the Feet of Individuals with Diabetes
    • Service Improvement within the Health Sector
    • Provide Support to Manage Pain and Discomfort
    • Contribute to Monitoring the Health of Individuals Affected by Health Conditions
    • Undertake Physiological Measurement
    • Obtain Venous Blood Samples
    • Obtain and Test Specimens from Individuals
    • Perform Routine Electrocardiograph (ECG) Procedures

Blended delivery including; one to one support with an occupationally competent tutor, and virtual learning environment. Clinical Training programme through the Kernow Health Training Hub

The duration for this course is 12 months, but you can complete earlier

The full cost of this course is £2,882.00
 
This course can be funded via Advanced learner loans.
 
ELCAS funding is also available for  members of the Armed Forces or have reached the end of active service.
